Goals for 2019 from a future event planner

All my life I never really knew what I wanted to be when I got older, and whenever someone would ask I would say something different every time. It wasn’t until I began college when I really truly developed a passion for something. I always loved talking to people and learning about what they love, but I was never sure how I wanted to utilize that in a career path.

I decided I want to be an event planner, but more specifically a wedding planner. I realized “the bride to be” usually has a clear vision of what they want their wedding to look like, and hearing what they love and making sure everything is perfect for them sounds right up my alley.

A big task to take on, I know! Planning the big day that every girl has been dreaming about since before they can remember is a daunting thought, especially because I’ve never planned a wedding.

My goals for myself are to start networking my way into this competitive business with an internship with a wedding-planning company. I hope to get an internship for my senior year and learn from the best of the best to understand what really goes into planning a wedding. I also plan to graduate in the Spring of 2020 and hopefully be employed as a full-time event planner.

Something I know that I struggle with is organization, and one of the main qualities an event planner needs to have is good organization. So this year, I really want to focus on my organization skills, learn what works best for me and gain confidence in myself. -Bayley Eckhart
