Unwrap the Story
Eagle PR is currently running a campaign promoting tony’s chocolonely and who they are and why you should support tony’s Chocolonely
Who is Tony’s Chocolonely?
Tony Chocolonely is an 100% Ethically sourced chocolate brand from the Netherlands.
It was founded by Teun van da Keuken after researching problems in food production which included slavery and child labor in 2002.
After being rejected for three years, he eventually founded his own chocolate brand and company in 2005.
Why should I support fair labor?
By supporting fair labor, you’re not only contributing to better pay and better products, but you’re also helping getting rid of child labor and slavery in the chocolate industry.
Almost every single chocolate company doesn’t know where their cocoa beans come from and they most likely support child labor.
One of Tony’s Chocolonely mission is to support and fairly pay their farmers, that’s why their prices are higher than other chocolate companies.
How can I help?
By just buying or spreading the word about Tony, you’re helping giving the farmers better pay and not support child labor.

Tony’s Chocolonely 5 Sourcing Principles
Traceable cocoa beans: One of Tony's Chocolonely's sourcing principles is using traceable cocoa beans. Tony's partners in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana use a logging system to track where every cocoa bean goes. This is one way Tony's Chocolonely Traces, Sustains, and Collaborates by ensuring no unfair labor practices occur.
A higher price: Tony's bridges the gap between what farmers typically earn and the Living Income Reference Price, which farmers should be paid. This is another way Tony's Chocolonely Traces, Sustains, and Collaborates by ensuring farmers are paid fairly through the living income premium.
Strong farmers: By empowering the farmers to stick together and fight for change in the cocoa industry, Tony's works to professionalize the industry and incorporate sustainability programs to create lasting change. This is how Tony's Chocolonely Traces, Sustains, and Collaborates by ensuring farmers feel empowered to fight for change.
The long-term: Tony’s partners with farmers for at least 5 years, creating new opportunities for farmers to buy new cocoa plants, invest in better farming equipment and gain awareness of the effects of child and forced labor. One of Tony’s initiatives to end child labor is the Child Labor Monitoring and Remediation System, which surveys Tony’s partners and helps improve cocoa farmers’ living conditions. By ensuring that farmers are well taken care of, Tony’s can then educate cocoa farmers on the harmful effects of child and forced labor. This is another way that Tony’s Traces, Sustains, and Collaborates: by ensuring that cocoa farmers are living in supportive communities and educating them on the effects of child and forced labor.
Quality and productivity: Tony’s works to increase farmers’ expertise in cocoa farming practices so that farmers can generate additional income and help prevent deforestation. Farmers are also encouraged to improve their crops with Tony’s living income premium. This is how Tony’s Traces, Sustains, and Collaborates: by ensuring that farmers have the skills and knowledge to create better cocoa crops, which leads to better quality and productivity.
