Alumni Lucas and Marcus Ross had one of their latest short films made available for viewing through Amazon Prime, becoming the first OC filmmakers to achieve that feat. According to Lucas, the film was roughly based on his and Marcus’ home town of Minko, Oklahoma. While shooting the film, they used actual locals for background characters, giving an opportunity to some people who would not typically have a chance to be on camera. The Ross brothers wanted to include regular people from Oklahoma, not Hollywood.
“We were always told we had to go to California to do these things, but we ended up hitting a spark with this show that relates to people from small towns,” Lucas said.
Not only did they write and direct “Lazy Circles,” but they also played prominent roles in the film. Marcus had the role of T.M., while Lucas played three parts: Mayor Haynes, Nadienne Chitwood and Carl Storm. Many of the characters in the show were loosely based on actual people they know from Minko.
“It's really just an opportunity to shine a light on those who don’t typically get to be on screen and show their perspective,” Lucas said.
OC Instructor of Communication David Jurney, who taught the Ross brothers, has enjoyed seeing the film’s success.
“It’s always exciting to see our students go on and do great things,” Jurney said, “With Lucas and Marcus, it’s neat to see them find success with that sense of fun and humor that they have.”
In addition to the excitement of releasing “Lazy Circles” on Amazon Prime, these brothers have a long list of awards in the production of the show.
“This past year on some streaming sites we were able to qualify for the Heartland emmys for best program,” Lucas said.

OC is proud to call the Ross brothers alumni and encourages the community to go watch their newest episode of “Lazy Circles: ‘Welcome’ to Goshé”on Amazon Prime.
“It's been one of my favorite projects because I've been able to work and do the things that I finally like,” Lucas said. “I've been doing local TV and comedy, but I’ve been cast for different types that don’t really fit what I want to do.”
