Oklahoma Christian University students are invited to audition for the 32nd annual “Cabaret” on Oct. 24. “Cabaret” is a well-known OC tradition for romantic and lively music for couples and friends alike. The show is made up of various Broadway hits, and accompanying the vocal talent for the fourth year will be OC’s Jazz Band.

“Cabaret” auditions are Oct. 24 in Judd Theater. Students are required to fill out the sign-up sheet that is posted on the Music Program’s office window in the Garvey Center.

“Cabaret” scheduled to take place on March 2 and 4-6. The show is normally held in February, but due to COVID-19, it will be in March. Another change that students should anticipate is the location. “Cabaret” will be held in Baugh Auditorium in order to give more space for social distancing. This year's theme is "Reach Out to Broadway.”

Auditioners are expected to prepare an entire song from a Broadway musical of their choice that they believe truly showcases their vocal abilities. Two copies of the participant’s chosen music are needed at the audition. After all participants have sung, there will be a choreography audition in small groups.

OC Distinguished Visiting Professor of Music Terry Attebery is directing his sixth “Cabaret” this year. He is in charge of selecting the music, auditions, scheduling and piecing the show together.

“I am so excited to see all the talent this year,” said Atteberry. “Directing “Cabaret” is the highlight of my year. Being able to watch these very talented students blossom is amazing. They learn new skills and improve on the ones they already have. We are all hoping that many students will audition and that many will come in March to support their hard work."
