OC celebrates distinguished CoLA alumni during homecoming 2019

November 2, 2019 - The College of Liberal Arts is proud of the many OC alumni who have so many impressive accomplishments. It's always difficult to choose just one, but we are excited to name this year's Alumni of the Year honorees. Below is each department and program's selections. They will be formally recognized at a reception on Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. and at the Alumni Banquet Dinner at 5:30 p.m.

  • Art+Design - Taylor Goad: San Francisco-based graphic designer

  • Communication - Meagan Harris: Managing Editor and News Director of NBCLX

  • Language and Literature - Dr. Kay Tindle: Managing Director of the Office of Research Development and Communications at Texas Tech University

  • Music - Rebekah Bruce Parker: Music Director for the national tour of the Broadway show “Mean Girls”

  • School of Education - Haley Efird Galyean: District Math Specialist for 3rd-6th grades in Tomball, Texas

  • History and Political Science - Mike Sanders: Oklahoma State Representative and House Majority Leader

  • Psychology and Family Science - James Gibbs: STEM teacher at Prairie Vale Elementary in the Deer Creek School District
