Oklahoma Christian University invites area students, pros to free lessons with Facebook advertising expert Dennis Yu Feb. 3-4.

January 28, 2020 - Dennis Yu is one of the world’s most in-demand speakers on using Facebook advertising to help organizations grow. He will bring his expertise to Oklahoma City Feb. 3-4 at Oklahoma Christian University in a series of free seminars for area high school and college students and one session for area professionals.

Yu is CEO of the social media training company BlitzMetrics, and his many clients include Nike, The Wall Street Journal, the Golden State Warriors, Rosetta Stone, Marketo and Social Media Examiner.

“I’m so excited to see new faces from Oklahoma City and Oklahoma Christian University,” Yu said. “I love helping people learn how we can make Facebook work for us.”

OC’s Associate Professor of Communication Josh Watson invited Yu to speak at OC. His free sessions are made possible through support from the College of Liberal Arts, the Department of Communication, Eagle PR (OC’s student-run PR firm) and OC’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.

“OC students have never had a Facebook advertising professional as accomplished as Dennis visit campus before,” Watson said. “It is an honor to connect our passionate, world-changing students with someone as giving and positive as Dennis. We’re also thrilled to invite surrounding high school and college students to campus. Professionals and students alike will benefit from his sessions, which he is generously offering for free.”

Yu has spoken about Facebook advertising and marketing in 17 countries, spanning five continents, including keynotes at top conferences such as Social Media Marketing World, L2E, Gultaggen and Marketo Summit. He has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, LA Times, National Public Radio, TechCrunch, CNN, Fox News, the Washington Post and CBS Evening News.

Yu is a regular contributor for Adweek’s SocialTimes column and has published in Social Media Examiner, Social Media Club, Tweak Your Biz, B2C, Social Fresh and Heyo. He’s also held leadership positions at Yahoo! and American Airlines.

At OC, Yu’s sessions designed for students are on the topic of “Using Facebook ads to land your dream job.” Students can hear Yu at OC’s Judd Theater on Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and again on Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. Parking is available near Baugh Auditorium.

Yu’s talk with area professionals is titled “Using Facebook to grow your organization’s impact.” That session is Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. in the Davison American Heritage building’s Cail Auditorium; parking is available north of the Mabee Learning Center Library. Students are also welcome to attend this 6 p.m. session. All sessions are free, but registration is required at www.oc.edu/event/dennis_yu.
