Elizabeth Killough majored in Public Relations at Oklahoma Christian University and graduated summa cum laude in the spring of 2020. Upon graduation, Killough landed a job at Gooden Group, one of the state’s top PR firms based in Edmond, Oklahoma. Killough joined the team as an account associate, adding depth to their successful and comprehensive PR firm. She strives to provide strategies of communication and consulting expertise to Gooden Group’s clients in order to help them bridge the gap between clients and audiences.

While studying at OC, Killough was able to gain PR experience as the Director of Eagle PR, OC's student-run PR firm, for three semesters. She also served as the firm’s Event Planner and Director of Digital Media. Killough’s leadership helped the agency to earn a place among the top-20 universities in the nation for Up-to-Us campaigns two years in a row, and she helped with a team that placed in the top-18 for the highly competitive Public Relations Student Society of America’s Bateman Competition.

“I’m very grateful for the OC communication department and especially Eagle PR’s sponsor, Dr. Watson,” said Killough. “I was pushed out of my comfort zone to develop writing, digital media and connection skills that I continue to grow in my current position.”

In 2019, Killough continued to build her resume by working as a communication intern at Oklahoma Dental Association, as well as helping with a church’s youth group as their social media manager and event coordinator. Not surprisingly, Killough was named the department’s graduate of the year in 2020.

Clearly, Killough utilized her collegiate years to establish her expertise, which enabled her to be quickly hired by the respected PR firm. The agency has confidence in Killough to carry out the qualities that they are known for, such as offering a variety of services with diverse clients and industries. One of the agency’s partner-owners is Katy Gustafson, another OC PR alumna who was also named the department’s graduate of the year as a senior.

“Working alongside encouraging, talented PR professionals makes me excited to take on projects with the team,” said Killough. “I learn something new every day.”

Killough encourages college students to begin networking for connections, applying to different internships and keeping their options open because those aptitudes can open doors to amazing jobs such as the one she found at The Gooden Group.
