Allie Steward is an Oklahoma Christian University family science major with a double art and finance minor, and she recently illustrated a children’s book with former OC President Terry Johnson. He wanted to write a book for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, so Johnson reached out to Steward to illustrate the book. She painted 26 pages to go along with the story about Texas hill country animals.

In the story, 10 animals are illustrated, showing each baby animal depicted on its own, and then with a family member on the next page. The book was designed to help children become more familiar with the animal families. This book also covers God's gift each animal gives and is used to inspire children to think about the gifts God gives them. “My Animal Friends” is available on Amazon.com and in a Marbles Falls, Texas, book store.

After graduating from OC, Allie will attend graduate school for art therapy and counseling at Springfield College in Massachusetts. The opportunity to illustrate this book gave her the experience she needed for her future endeavours.

“While it was difficult to balance my academics, internship and leadership responsibilities for Phi Upsilon Omicron, I had fun with this opportunity,” Steward said. “I hope I will be able to continue to illustrate children’s books in the future.”
