Jose Cruz, state Rep. for Oklahoma House District 89 and an Oklahoma Christian University graduate, knows what it feels like not to be able to afford anything from the book fair in elementary school. Cruz wanted to find a way to create a much better experience for children that don’t have money to spend at school book fairs. That’s why he teamed up with Lilyfield, an Oklahoma nonprofit organization to offer children in South Oklahoma City a free book fair this month.

Lilyfield helps create healthy families, particularly for at-risk children and youth. This Christian, nonprofit organization focuses on adoption, foster care and counseling efforts. Earlier this year, Lilyfield hosted a book drive with Cruz to provide the books for the upcoming book fair.

The book fair will be hosted at St. Luke’s Asbury United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City March 16-17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All Children in the south Oklahoma City area are invited to attend. Those available to volunteer to set up or work the book fair can sign up online.
