Oklahoma Christian University is home to many social and academic clubs, including the Honors English chapter of Sigma Tau Delta named Rho Mu. The OC chapter provides services to fellow students through line-by-line editing. The money earned from this service helps fund travel to the annual Sigma Tau Delta national conference.
Kaitlyn Beck, student president of Sigma Tau Delta, provided some insight on why providing the editing service is important.
“We accept line-by-line commissions through email. It's a great way to serve our students and raise funds,” Beck said. “Our fundraisers mainly go toward the annual conference, which is held in different cities every year.”
Through the end of October, the line-by-line editing is on sale for half-off. New rates include $1.50 per page with $2.50 per works cited page. Students should plan ahead, as the price doubles for “day before” work.
The service not only provides students with improved papers, but it also helps club members sharpen their own writing skills. Improved writing then enhances the English students’ work that is submitted for presentation at the national conference.
“Students in Sigma Tau Delta have the opportunity to submit a paper to the Sigma Tau Delta English Honors Society conference,” Beck said. “If accepted, the student then goes on to present the paper to a panel.”
OC students have until the end of October to take advantage of the half-off sale as of Oct. 31. Commissions and questions can be emailed to kaitlyn.beck@eagles.oc.edu.
