OC hosts free magic show to benefit DSACO on Feb. 22
The Department of Psychology and Family Science continues the OC magic show legacy.
February 13, 2020 - OC continues a magical tradition that brings the community to support a great cause.
Every year, the Oklahoma Christian University Department of Psychology and Family Science hosts a magic show to benefit the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma. This year, the show will take place in Adams Recital Hall Feb. 22 at 11 a.m. Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to make a donation to assist DSACO in their work following the show.
The Department of Psychology and Family Science has hosted this yearly magic show for nearly a decade. Funds raised have been donated to various charities in the area. Students of these departments help organize and run the show each year.
Chair of OC’s Department of Psychology and Family Science Ryan Newell has been performing the magic show for years.
“I enjoy performing in this show,” Newell said. “Magic has been a lifelong hobby of mine.”
The mission of the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma is to “raise awareness and provide resources, as well as promote acceptance and inclusion for people with down syndrome.” DSACO hosts several family-oriented events, education workshops and awareness campaigns to benefit those with down syndrome.
