April 30, 2021
Jake Doberenz graduated from Oklahoma Christian University in 2018 with a degree in biblical studies. He recently completed the graduate program and got his master’s degree in theological studies in 2020. Now, Doberenz has published his first book: "Who We Are: Seven Christian Identities to Shape Your Life."
Along with being a published author, Doberenz also serves as the president of Theophany Media. He founded the Christian entertainment and media company to work at the intersection of faith and the fantastic, and to marry intelligence and imagination. Through publishing, podcasts and plays, the company strives to creatively communicate Christian theology to the global church. As president, his role is to host and produce podcasts, lead publishing initiatives, plan the vision for the company and lead the membership program.
In addition to his main job, he also serves at Mayfair Church of Christ as an associate minister and at the Academy of Classical Christian Studies as a middle school debate teacher.
Faculty that guided Doberenz throughout his time at OC are not surprised to see the level of success he has reached. Jim Baird, OC Professor of Bible, expressed his excitement about the book and the message that readers will get out of it.
"Jake's book grew out of his ministry with other 20-somethings," Baird said. "He hopes it will help Christians resist the definitions the world slaps on them and listen to the identities they have been given by the Gospel."
