Oklahoma Christian University Communication Program is honored that public relations alumna Kali Dearing was named to the state’s NextGen Under 30 list. Almost 400 outstanding young Oklahomans were selected to be NextGen 30 award winners in 20 career categories. The program is organized by the Oklahoma Lt. Governor’s office. Each honoree was recognized for their talent, ambition and the services they provide for their community.

Josh Watson, associate professor of communication, taught Dearing while she was at OC.

“Kali worked hard and was a smart networker before she graduated, landing a great internship in California that became her first full-time job,” Watson said. “She wanted to return home and work closer to family. OKC has benefitted from her decision.

“She’s a great choice for this award. One of Oklahoma’s top PR pros, Sam Simms, has bragged about her work at Collision Works.”

In just 10 years, the NextGen program has awarded 1,811 recipients from across Oklahoma.  There have been over 8,000 nominations. NextGen is a program that helps motivate young individuals to pursue their life and career goals in Oklahoma.
