The Ad Director’s Club of Tulsa announced Jacey McDaniel, a graphic design student at Oklahoma Christian University, as the third-place winner in their annual Graphex competition. This year’s competition, GraphEx 51, received submissions from designers across the state. Judges from around the nation chose the winners.

Originally transferring from the University of Colorado as a nursing student, McDaniel’s love of design resulted in a change of major at OC. For McDaniel, graphic design is a labor of love as she pours her heart and her soul into her artwork.

“The ability to communicate visually is a great way to impact other people’s lives,” she said.

McDaniel is thankful for the instruction received at OC to develop in essential graphic design areas.

“I loved creating things even in my childhood, and I just never thought it could be my career until now,” McDaniel said. “Oklahoma Christian has helped me so much with growing in my design work.”

The judges for GraphEx 51 were Cheryl Mendenhall, a senior lecturer at Southern Methodist University; Mitch Goldstein, an assistant professor of design at Rochester Institute of Technology; and Andrew Hochradel, a brand identity designer and Adobe mentor.
