OC students were chosen to present at family relations conference in April
Family Science students were to present research and network with professionals at the 39th annual conference in Oklahoma City.
April 10, 2020 - Oklahoma Christian University students from the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences were chosen to attend the Oklahoma Council of Family Relations annual conference in April. This year, the 39th annual OkCFR conference was to be held on the campus of Epworth Villa in North Oklahoma City, but the event had to be canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Several OC students were to present research that they conducted outside of class. Others were to present on Family Life Education programs they have created. All attendees would have learned about research and practice from other students and faculty at various universities from across Oklahoma.
OC usually takes a group of about 30 students to the conference.
Associate Professor of Family Science Bobby Kern believes the OKCFR annual conference is a great opportunity for the department and its students.
“This is an exciting conference for us because it allows our students to connect with family professionals and other family science academic programs across the state,” Kern said. “It also provides our students with an opportunity to present their own research and program creations.”
This year, OC students were to present in multiple formats including poster presentations as well as round table discussions.
OKCFR’s mission is to provide a forum for family researchers, educators and practitioners to share in the development and dissemination of knowledge about families and family relationships, establish professional standards and work to promote family well-being.
