OC to host Oklahoma Christian Academy and Central Oklahoma Homeschool choirs for a joint concert March 10

The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the McIntosh Conservatory.

March 9, 2020 - Oklahoma Christian University strives to connect with the community, and their concerts are a successful way to do that, especially when part of the community gets to participate fully.

For the first time in several years, OC choirs will host a recruitment concert. On March 10, the OC Chamber Singers will perform alongside the Oklahoma Christian Academy and Central Oklahoma Homeschool choirs. Each choir will perform their own set of three songs. The show will end with the groups performing a finale song together, “City Called Heaven,” arranged by Josephine Poelinitz.

OC Professor of Music and choir director Kyle Pullen is hopeful that the concert will entice future students who are interested in music to join the OC choir family.

“I’m hoping that they’ll see the quality of our groups and our Chamber Singers while getting to know the repertoire of what we do and the kind of music we perform,” Pullen said. “If they're interested in the music we do, then hopefully they'll ask about our program and inquire about the opportunities. I also hope that they see that we are an inviting place that they can watch performances and sing with us.”

President of the OC choirs Elizabeth Killough believes this concert is a great opportunity to show high school students what collegiate choir is like.

“Looking back to my own high school experience, I always appreciated when college choirs would take time out of their busy schedules to perform with us or for us,” Killough said. “Being able to give back and perform such a powerful piece of music with talented high schoolers is such a neat opportunity.”

The concert will be held in the McIntosh Conservatory at 7:30 p.m.; admission is free.
