With a new constitution, student leadership and the first of group of student members, Oklahoma Christian University’s Criminal Justice Club has started off the semester strong. Sid Brown, distinguished visiting professor of criminal justice, encouraged his students to found the club for which he is the faculty sponsor.
The purpose of CJC is to inform and inspire students who are interested in the field of criminal justice. This provides students with educational and networking opportunities in the academic and criminal justice communities. CJC also exists to facilitate conferences in the field of criminal justice. Brown looks forward to the future of CJC at OC.
“I am truly excited about our endless possibilities as a club,” he said. “I think this is a great start, and employers love to see students who are involved in activities like this.”
At the first meeting, the following individuals were elected for inaugural officer positions of the Criminal Justice Club: senior Dylan Ingram as president, Haleigh Jones as vice president and Ian Galindo as secretary and treasurer. In the spring, CJC will elect new officers for 2021, though Haleigh Jones will ascend to the position of president. The club plans to enact community projects including hosting guest speakers for OC students and welcoming high school students to learn about criminal justice.
