Professor of Art and Design Michael O’Keefe noticed Collins at an art show and was impressed. Collins’ artwork is diverse and unique from other state artists, an experience O’Keefe wanted his art students to have.

“His art is not similar, and that’s why it's good to bring him on campus,” O’Keefe said.  “ [The students] get exposure to other artforms and the creative process and approach to problem solving. Plus, they get to meet an active artist in the industry.”

Prints like those produced by Collins are a form of art made by transferring a subject from one surface to another. His art will be in the OC art gallery Feb.14-March 13. A student presentation will be held in the Judd Theatre Feb.13 from 5:15-5:45 p.m., followed by the opening reception with Collins. To view some of his art before the gallery showing, visit his Instagram or Flickr. A 360-degree video of Collins’ work in OC’s gallery is available here on the OC College of Liberal Arts Facebook page.

Collins’ work is the second showing in OC’s gallery this year. In January, OC hosted Edmond Santa Fe Advanced Placement art teacher and alumnus Kevin Thomas’ students after O’Keefe made a trip to the high school last year.

“I went to their art department to talk about our graphic design program,” O’Keefe said. “I was so impressed with their work; I invited them to have a show here.”

A few of the high school artists stood out in particular. Katherine Burkhardt, Sheyenne Cannon and Megan Macwilliams all received praise from O’Keefe for the creativity and execution of their art.
