OC’s April art gallery opens for the Celebration of Excellence

Student work by seniors will be displayed for the rest of the semester and into the summer.

The April show in Oklahoma Christian University’s art gallery opened on April 4 to display senior projects from Art and Design students. This gallery debuted during The Celebration of Excellence, which is a day on campus where students present and display their work to the community. The works in the gallery will remain up until the end of this summer.

Naomi Perkins, a senior majoring in Interior Architecture, is one of the seniors displaying her art.

“My poster consists of three years of design work,” she said. “I have my most-developed and least-developed projects featured side-by-side. It's cool to think that I've come this far. Assembling my portfolio was quite a bit of work. It took a long time to decide what to display and how to display it. Each semester, I get the opportunity to work on a new project, and this poster is an all inclusive project that features my best work and biggest growth.”

Senior Graphic Design major Kinsley Flint will also display her art in the gallery. She shared about her process deciding which pieces to feature in her portfolio.

“When making my poster, I had to narrow down my work to the pieces that I felt best summarize my time in the Art and Design program,” Flint said. “I hadn't realized how much work I'd actually produced in the last four years until I opened up almost every project I've done on my computer and had to pick between them. I had to try to show variety while also making sure I was displaying my best pieces.”

Pieces will remain up until the end of the summer in the art gallery, which is located in the back of the Garvey Center. Be sure to stop by and check out the talent and hard work these students have displayed.
