OC’s Chamber Singers to perform with new men’s and women's choirs Nov. 10
OC’s Music Program continues to hold performances with COVID-19 precautions.
After the Oklahoma Christian University Music Program’s success with social-distanced concerts this semester, students and faculty are excited to host another great evening of music. On Nov. 10, OC’s Chamber Singers alongside the new men’s and women’s choirs will come together to perform in the fall 2020 Chorale Concert in the McIntosh Conservatory at 7:30 p.m.
The director of the concert, Professor of Music Kyle Pullen, is prepared for a night of great music, even in the midst of COVID-19.
“This concert is a testament to the incredible work that has been done by OC’s COVID response team and the precautions that have been taken by the university and the OC Music Program,” Pullen said. “I'm looking forward to a night of great music sung by the Chamber Singers and our new men's choir and women's choir.”
Throughout the concert, singers will be spaced behind partitions that they have used for rehearsals all semester. This will be the first performance where they will sing with the partitions. In addition, each student is required to be tested negative for COVID-19 before performing. Temperature checks and masks will be required by the audience members upon entrance. The concert is only open to students and employees.
Mikayla McKinzie, an OC junior and historian for the Chamber Singers, is aware that the concert will look very different from those in the past, but she is optimistic to perform again.
“Cutting the last school year short hit me hard because one, I wasn't able to sing with my friends anymore, and two, we couldn't go on tour to recruit and meet some potential new choir members,” McKinzie said. “To be able to sing beautiful music in the midst of the pandemic is something truly special. I am grateful for people like Dr. Pullen, who have pushed for us to continue to do what we love.”
There is no ticket purchase needed for the Chorale Concert. More information regarding future OC Music Program events can be found here.
