Division of Behavioral and Social Science alumni award recipient spoke at OC during Homecoming

Oklahoma Christian University’s Behavioral and Social Sciences Division honored an outstanding alumnus during Homecoming. This year, the division’s honoree also served as a guest speaker in the BASS chapel and as a guest lecturer in Associate Professor of Psychology and Family Science Bobby Kern’s Divorce and Stepfamilies class.

Ron Deal is the recipient of the 2021 award. He obtained two bachelor’s degrees from OC, one in Biblical Studies and another in Family Life and Family Services. Following his graduation, he earned a master’s degree from Abilene Christian University in Marriage and Family Therapy. He then became a best-selling author, podcaster and popular conference speaker.

Deal offered advice to OC students during his chapel talk.

"Humility is what primes the canvas of your heart to receive the Holy Spirit's paint,” he said. “In humility we come to Christ, and it is in humility that we walk with him and mature to become more like him. Keep your heart humble.”
