OC honors Stafford and JoAnne North with an updated North Crossing fountain on campus
The dedication was held April 8 and follows the unveiling of JoAnne’s Kitchen last year.
Oklahoma Christian University chose a beautiful day in April to once again honor the late Stafford North and his family. North served as a professor on campus for over seven decades, helping grow OC in many different ways, as did his wife, JoAnne. The event was the unveiling of the North Crossing area by the recently remodeled fountain in the quad area of campus.
Just last year, OC leaders also honored the Norths by revealing a new sign in the remodeled cafeteria that reads, “JoAnne’s Kitchen.” A Group of students, faculty and staff sat and ate in community as a way to intentionally honor the legacy of the Norths.
Many great memories and stories about Stafford throughout the past seven decades were shared at that event. He was a leader, an educator, an entertainer and a spiritual advisor to many. At OC, Dr. North worked as a professor and administrator who participated as a memorable role in many performances in First Week Follies and a countless number of Spring Sing blurbs. The clips of his Greatest First Week Follies Hits are still available to watch.
