Jeremie Beller joins OC to lead the Bible Program as the new division chair
Oklahoma Christian University is proud to welcome a familiar face in Jeremie Beller as the new division chair for the Bible Program.
Beller graduated from OC with a bachelor’s degree in Bible and ministry, as well as a master of arts in ministry and a master of divinity in congregational ministry. He continued his education at The University of Oklahoma, where he earned a doctorate in communication and persuasion with his dissertation focusing on religion and racism.
OC's Chief Academic Officer Jeff McCormack praised Beller’s addition to the Bible Program.
"I am appreciative to the search committee for their work in the selection process,” McCormack said. “Many may know him through his balanced editorial contributions to the Christian Chronicle on what many times are controversial topics. In addition to oversight of the Division of Bible, Jeremie will oversee the expansion of our church relations."
Bellar has served as the congregational minister for the Wilshire church of Christ in Oklahoma City for more than 20 years. Before this, he preached for the Chandler church of Christ in Oklahoma. Beller has served as an OC adjunct professor in Bible and Communication and as a Bible teacher for Oklahoma Christian Academy in Edmond, Oklahoma. He also serves as the opinions editor for The Christian Chronicle monthly editorial and reviews pages. Beller was a contributor to the 2018 book “Why We Stayed: Honesty and Hope in Churches of Christ.”
Associate Professor of Communication Josh Watson has worked with Beller in the Communication program, during his own doctoral studies at OU and at OCA.
“Dr. Beller is an intelligent and respected preacher and teacher among churches in the area, at OC and with students at OCA,” Watson said. “His wife, Delaina, and children, Keaton and Kayden, are an important part of the OCA community. I have enjoyed Jeremie’s presentations at the Christian Scholars Conference, and I look forward to the partnerships he will help build.”
