The Good Old Days

“The good old days:” am I the only one who gets that response whenever I tell someone that I’m in college? Every time I heard that, I would get so upset because I wanted something to look forward to after I graduate. I didn’t want to go through these four years dreading my time after and thinking that this was the best it was gonna get. Luckily, being a PR major has given me the drive and excitement for my future in employment and “adulting.”

As a PR major, I have had the opportunity to be a member of Eagle PR. During this time, I have  made some incredible friends who have taught me so much along with the practice of being in a real world PR campaign. This year specifically, my team and I worked on an API project to educate young students on the importance of petroleum byproducts, using STEM learning. We used research to educate ourselves on daily use of oil and gas and how to best relay that message to children in elementary school. Our team designed a curriculum along with a stop-motion film in order to use hands-on learning and the help of a fun video. During this time, not only were we able to expand our knowledge on an important topic, we were able to use our imagination and creativity to see an idea turn into a project that we were proud of.

Eagle PR has served as such a perfect addition to my final years in college. With the memories made and constant challenge to push myself to my best potential, I now understand that “the good old days” are just the moments that made me who I am and who I hopefully get to be. - By Shaylin Stephenson
