OC Communication Program honors alumna Taylor Ketchum
Taylor Ketchum came to Oklahoma Christian University from California, but one of her greatest career accomplishments was recognition at the Festival de Cannes in France. To honor Ketchum’s impressive, young career, the OC Communication Program has named her Alumni of the Year.
Ketchum will be honored at the Alumni Achievement Awards ceremony Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. in OC’s Adams Recital Hall.
Associate Professor of Communication Josh Watson, Ketchum’s former academic advisor, spoke highly of her accomplishments.
“Her career and example have blessed OC in many ways, and this honor is only one small way we want to recognize her,” he said. “She is an excellent example of a Christian who pursues excellence in her work and relationships. It's an understatement to say we are proud of her.”
Ketchum helped develop and write a national commercial, produced by internationally renowned agency Saatchi & Saatchi, for the National Down Syndrome Society. The commercial won a Gold Lion Award at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity in France.
Ketchum is the vice president at Jones PR and is passionate about helping brands, businesses and organizations find their audiences and tell their stories. Since landing an internship in 2011 during her last semester at OC, she continues to use her talents to lead the agency’s consumer brands and influencer marketing clients.
She has assembled an award-winning digital team and launched Jones PR’s own influencer marketing portal, Jones PR Activate. Ketchum focuses on pairing the best PR practices with digital trends to serve her clients in the hospitality, entertainment, food and beverage, professional sports, nonprofit and education sectors.
Ketchum has certifications in Google Analytics and Google Ads certifications and serves as a board member and committee chair for the local Oklahoma City Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. She was also named a 2018 honoree for the Oklahoma Gazette 40 under 40.
Watson praised Ketchum for her drive as a student and a professional.
“Taylor was a driven student who earned a competitive internship at Jones PR before graduation,” Watson said.“They wisely hired her at the end of that semester, and she quickly became one of Oklahoma City's most accomplished PR executives.”
Ketchum is the proud wife of a dedicated Oklahoma teacher and mother to two young daughters. When not working or running after her kids, she manages her blog:MotherTriedWhat.com.
