Recent OC PR graduate is launching a public relations podcast with respected pro Sam Sims

Oklahoma Christian University Public Relations alumnus Caleb Brown graduated less than a year ago, and he’s already helping produce a new podcast with one of Oklahoma’s most-respected PR pros. Brown and Sam Sims, owner of the Sims Group agency, are excited to announce the launch of their upcoming podcast, which they are designing as an education tool for business owners. The show focuses on helping owners improve in marketing, advertising and public relations.

The pair plans to provide business tools to help listeners determine effective strategies while learning how to avoid negative tactics that may be harmful. Brown and Sims have multiple goals for their podcast; however, their main aspiration is to equip businesses, as well as the public, on how to recognize the differences between marketing, advertising and public relations, while also properly defining public relations.

“This podcast is something that we hope business owners will grasp onto and incorporate into their workplaces,” Brown says. “There will be a lot of insightful tips that can be very beneficial for some businesses.”

Since graduation, Brown exercises his skills by working for different organizations. He is a grant manager for COVID relief for the state of Oklahoma, working for respected business owner and event planner Nicole Thomas. On the side, Brown also contributes work for the public relations and advertising business for Sims, who also teaches part-time at the University of Oklahoma and has served as a national board member for the Public Relations Society of America.

Brown and Sims hope to provide different generational perspectives, considering their different understanding and experiences. Sims has been in the industry for 20 years and offers an abundance of information for business owners to learn from, while Brown brings a valuable set of younger, digital-native eyes to the podcast’s content.

The first episode is expected in February. It will be available on all platforms such as Youtube, Apple Music and Spotify.
