Mass Communication alumna Christine Meredith’s moving op-ed in the Oklahoman

As a long-time Oklahoman, OC Mass Communication alumna Christine Meredith reflected on resilience in her recent op-ed in the Oklahoman. She parallels the prickly pear cactus and the Survivor Tree Memorial Plaza at OC, dedicated on Sept. 13. This plaza features trees from the Oklahoma City National Memorial and the World Trade Center, symbolizing healing and hope. The Communication Department’s student-led newspaper, The Talon, was among the media partners of the Oct. 16 SD 47 debate

The Talon, OC’s student-led newspaper, will be among the media partners for the upcoming Senate District 47 debate debate Oct. 16. The debate begins at 5:45 p.m. and took place at the Francis Tuttle Technology Center’s Rockwell campus, and it was streamed live on the News 9 website and Facebook page. Associate Professor of Communication and President of the Public Relations Society of America OKC chapter Josh Watson attended the PRSA ICON conference and the PRSA Educators Academy Summit on Oct. 14 in Anaheim, California. He connected with fellow educators and PR pros to explore the latest trends and innovations in public relations. Way to go, Dr. Watson!

OC Begin classrooms dedicated to legacy family Jim Begin

On Oct. 31, Jim Begin and his family were honored during the dedication of the Begin classrooms in the Communication Department in Garvey. Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Professor of Communication Brian Simmons talked about the importance of legacy families and how, through these renovated classrooms, the Begin family will bless students for many years to come. President of SGA and junior Communication student Delaney Ward also spoke about how these classrooms have benefitted her. The Comm Department is grateful for these renovated facilities, allowing professors like Dr. Simmons and students like Delaney to enjoy the latest technology in their learning!
