Art and Design students build skills while working at the Festival of the Arts in Oklahoma City
Annie James and Emma Stanbough received an internship at the Arts Council of Oklahoma over the summer.
Annie James and Emma Stanbough, two students from Oklahoma Christian University’s Art and Design program, were both offered internships for the Arts Council of Oklahoma, resulting in their participation in Oklahoma City’s Festival of the Arts.
James’ and Stanbough’s professor, Jacob Touchstone, expressed his enthusiasm for his students.
“They are always working to improve themselves professionally and artistically by broadening the range of their abilities and consistently updating their portfolios of outstanding work,” he said. “They are clearly driven, and their work speaks to their immeasurable efforts of self improvement.”
James described their job duties at the festival.
“We got to lead small teams in specific parts of the festival,” she said. “Emma ran a team for the opening ceremony, and I ran the team for signage. We also ran social media at a variety of events, talked with sponsors and helped organize the inventory and other areas of the festival."
The OKC Festival of the Arts is an important event for the Arts Council of Oklahoma.
According to the Festival of the Arts’ website, “The Festival of the Arts remains a significant signature event for the Arts Council making it possible to accomplish the organization’s mission through a variety of year-round events, programs and services.”
