OC’s Fine and Performing Arts Program featured musical art in a recent gallery show

OC’s Music and Art and Design Programs came together to create an innovative gallery exhibit in March.

For the month of March, Oklahoma Christian University's Fine and Performing Arts Program staged an exhibit in the art gallery titled, “The Art of Music.” The unique show brought together both the Art and Design and Music Programs to display various types of instruments. The instruments included a variety of guitars, a Hammond organ from the 1930’s, a vitrola, saxophones, art featured on album covers and many more pieces.

During the reception, OC’s own Professor of Music, Heath Jones, and guest guitarist, Mark Galloway, performed for guests. While the attendees roamed the gallery and read about the different historical aspects of the instruments, Jones and Galloway sang and played their instruments for all to enjoy.

The beautifully displayed and historic instruments were open to the public and enjoyed by all who visited the art gallery located in the back of the Garvey Center building at OC.

The final art gallery show of the spring semester will be April’s feature of senior art students’ best works.
