OC Music Program’s pianist places third in an international competition

Oklahoma Christian University congratulates Music Program pianist Miho Fisher for placing third in the International Collaborative Piano Competition’s Virtual Professional Division in August.

The ICPC is organized by the Puerto Rico Center for Collaborative Piano as a unique summer music festival for any pianist (student, professional or amateur) desiring to enhance their collaborative skills. One goal of the PRCCP is to advance historically excluded musical voices.

Collaborative piano is a modern term for what used to be called an accompanist. The new terminology emphasizes the special skills and artistry of the collaborative pianist.

Fisher performed with OC’s adjunct flute professor, Natalie Syring, and Oklahoma City Philharmonic cellist, Angelika Machnik-Jones. Their nearly six-minute performance, filmed at OC, is available to see and hear online

OC is  proud of Fisher and is excited to watch her succeed in many more musical endeavors.

A native of Japan, Fisher earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in music from the University of North Dallas and the University of Central Oklahoma. She previously placed in the prestigious International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs, and she has performed in UCO’s Faculty Artist Series, UNT’s CollabFest, the Oklahoma Community Orchestra and for the Oklahoma City Ballet. Fisher also teaches a summer music program at the Center of Family Love, a residential facility for adults with developmental disabilities.
