The public is invited to OC’s annual Cabaret of popular and romantic songs Feb. 2-4
The show will feature songs from artists such as Adele, Walk the Moon, Zac Brown Band and The Beatles.
Each February, Oklahoma Christian University’s Music Program performs its annual Cabaret to entertain audiences with beloved songs and dances. The show has been a lasting tradition at OC for 34 years. This year, 25 students will continue the tradition of Cabaret by performing 21 popular and romantic songs, including 10 solos.
OC Professor of Music Kyle Pullen directs this year’s Cabaret, which is titled “Cabaret: Side by Side - Song and Dance.” The show will feature songs by Adele, Walk the Moon, Zac Brown Band and The Beatles.
Pullen, who is also the producer, shared his thoughts on this year’s production.
“It’s a lot of fun, and it’s really exciting with intricate lights and popular music,” he said.
In addition to Pullen, Barbara Berard serves as the choreographer for the production. This is her fourth year in that role. In addition, Assistant Professor of Art and Design Amy Beauchamp is the set designer.
Two of the 25 student performers are freshmen Cassie Tompkins and Hannah Blair.
“What I love about being in Cabaret is that I get to be in a cast with such fun, friendly and talented people,” Tompkins said. “It’s an honor to be under the direction of Barbara Berard because she sees the best in us and pushes us past the limits of what we think we can do.”
The cast members hope to perform for large audiences, and Blair is ready to sing in her first Cabaret.
“Cabaret is such a unique show and experience,” she said. “Each member of the cast has put in countless hours of rehearsing to put on a fantastic production. And, sit in the front row if you want to be in part of the show.”
The performances will be in OC’s Judd Theatre, Feb. 2-4, at 7:30 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit wwwoc.edu/events. The cost is only $12, but the shows often sell out.
