OC Music Students to Travel and Perform on Spring Break

On March 17-19, the Oklahoma Christian University Symphonic Band will travel to Temple, Texas to perform for various churches. Assistant Professor of Music George Schrader will lead the trip. 

On this upcoming trip, the band will be hosted by Stephen Grant, the Middle School Band Director in Jerrell, Texas. Students will stay at the Western Hills Church of Christ where Grant is a member.

The band’s performance title is “Lux”, which translates to “light” in Latin. The performance will highlight works by composers David Maslanka, Robert Kurka, Paul Hart, Eric Whitacre and Yasuhide Ito.

The OC students will end the tour by leading worship at Western Hills Church of Christ that Sunday. This will give the band students the opportunity to meet younger peers and tell them about OC. The band will arrive back at OC later that evening on March 19.
