OC PR alumna Emily Dito publishes her first book “Cannoli Can Takes on Kindergarten”
Oklahoma Christian University public relations alumna Emily Dito has published her very first book, “Cannoli Can Takes on Kindergarten.” The book was published in July and has been released to the public within the past week. Within its first week of being released, the book became a national top-100 best seller on Amazon.
“Cannoli Can Takes on Kindergarten” is about a kindergartner named Cannoli who is anticipating her first day of kindergarten. The book takes the reader through Cannoli’s experiences in kindergarten as she learns about resiliency and how having a positive attitude is the key to success. It was inspired by lessons Dito taught her own students as a Kindergarten teacher in Fort Worth, Texas.
Within the first three days of being released, “Cannoli Can Takes on Kindergarten” made the top-100 School-Age Children Parenting list of books by Amazon.
After graduating from OC, Dito went back to her home state of Texas to get her teaching certificate. However, she still actively uses her PR skills while teaching. In 2020, she won her first Webby Award for her school’s website and social media accounts. Her school was recognized as the best for online communications among all elementary schools in the Fort Worth Independent School District.
Dito’s former adviser, Associate Professor of Communication Josh Watson, commented on her success.
"Emily was such an enjoyable and hard-working student, and I knew she would be so good in the classroom,” he said. “Her first book is such a great extension of how she seeks to build others up and make the world a better place. She also helps document so many good things happening in her school district as their social media manager. We're so proud of her and her success."
OC congratulates Dito on all of her success as a teacher and now as a published author! Learn more about her book in this nationally distributed press release.
