OC’s Eagle PR wins professional award in July for logo design

Oklahoma Christian University’s Public Relations and Social Media students consistently achieve recognition in college competitions, but some especially talented students have their work also recognized against full-time professionals. That is exactly what happened in July for alumna Cassidy Littlewood, who received an Achievement Award for logo design from the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association.

Last semester, Littlewood served as co-director of Eagle PR, OC’s student-run agency. She helped lead the team’s See the Unseen campaign for lymphoma. It is how OC participated in the Public Relations Student Society of America’s Bateman Competition. Littlewood’s campaign logo was entered and then recognized in the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association competition.

The See the Unseen campaign spread awareness about lymphoma among young adults. The campaign reached students across OC’s campus through research, events with games that helped students understand an unseen disease and social media accounts that shared, informed and inspired advocacy.

OCPRA honors the creative work of public relations professionals working in colleges. It hosts an annual competition, giving professionals the opportunity to highlight their work on campaigns and tactics while competing against peers at other universities and colleges.

OC’s Associate Professor of Communication Josh Watson, who advises Eagle PR, praised Littlewood’s work and leadership.

“This is such a great honor for Cassidy, who has always had a great eye for design,” Watson said. “I’m not surprised her work stood out compared to full-time pros, not just students. She was an excellent leader who really stepped up amid our team’s heavy workload. I am certain this is the first of many awards in her career.”

In addition to winning the Achievement Award from OCPRA, Littlewood was hired by one of the state’s top public relations agencies after graduation. After interning at Jones PR, Littlewood was hired as an account coordinator. She now serves as a social media marketing specialist at Nurse Match Careers. Jones PR also features OC public relations alumna Taylor Ketchum, who helps lead the company as vice president.
