Communication alumna takes the position as OC’s Meinders Conference Center Coordinator
Olivia Bryant, an Oklahoma Christian University Communication alumna, has begun her new position in the Events Office as the Meinders Conference Center Coordinator. The Meinders Conference Center is OC’s newly renovated event space. Bryant’s position entails marketing the space to the surrounding area, coordinating with UDining’s catering service and working alongside the events team.
Bryant is ready for this new experience to further her career and passion she has for event planning.
“I have always known that event planning is what I wanted to do, and I gained lots of experience by doing things like directing Spring Sing, being an officer in a club and by being a Leadership major,” Bryant said. “Something that I am hoping to bring to OC is more opportunities for those who have a passion for event planning.”
Since graduating from OC, Bryant has had the opportunity to work for Scissortail Park in Oklahoma City as the event coordinator. She learned through this position about client relations, how to handle event crises, how to be a part of a team and how to successfully manage 15-20 events in one weekend.
Bryant works closely with the event coordinators in the events office in order to provide enjoyable events for the OC community. Kerri Cunningham, OC’s executive director of events management, helped Bryant get started in her career and is now an encouragement and co-worker alongside her.
“We are excited to add Olivia Bryant to our events staff,” Cunningham said. “She brings a wealth of experience from her time at Scissortail Park in Oklahoma City. Olivia will be the liaison for campus and community requests for OC's new Conference Center space.”
Associate Professor of Communication Josh Watson taught Bryant during her years at OC.
“Olivia has done such a great job as an event professional since graduating from OC's Communication Program,” Watson said. “She worked so hard at the world-class Scissortail Park in Oklahoma City, and she is bringing a great servant heart to OC's new events center. Students will love having her at OC, too.”
