OC Music Department celebrates Broadway with free performances of “Cabaret: A Night of Song and Dance” Feb. 1-3
Attendees will enjoy 22 students dancing and singing 25 Broadway classics.
“Cabaret: A Night of Song and Dance” is Oklahoma Christian University’s annual show that allows Music students to showcase their talents such as acting, singing and dancing. The community is welcome with free admission on Feb. 1-3 and each show will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Adams Recital Hall.
Students will perform 25 Broadway hits with the assistance of Adjunct Music Professor Caroline Carter.
“As a performer and professor of music, I rarely get to direct,” Carter said. “I am so grateful for the opportunity to direct “Cabaret” this year. The cast and crew are fantastic and they have been great collaborators throughout the rehearsal process. If you love Broadway show tune classics, this show is a must!”
The show will open with an ensemble piece, “All that Jazz” from the musical “Chicago.” The show will then finish with “One Day More” from the musical “Les Miserables.”
Students are eager to share their talents with the community.
“‘Cabaret’ is different from years previous,” Music student Hannah Blair said. “It’s going to be fun and I'm excited!”
One difference of this year's show is that students have the opportunity of creative freedom. Each student was given a solo within the ensemble or solo song, Blair mentioned.
Due to generous donors, this year’s “Cabaret” is free with open seating.
