OC’s College of Humanities and Bible helps lead six chapels for students this semester

Oklahoma Christian University strives to allow spaces for students to grow spiritually, experience worship and build community. This semester, students at OC will be able to experience unique chapels hosted by students and faculty in the College of Humanities and Bible.

Each student has a requirement of 56 chapel credits during this semester. These can be attained by attending daily chapel at 11 a.m. or attending a community group.

There are three community group chapel options that are led by students or faculty in the College of Humanities and Bible.

  • Women's Chapel is a women-led chapel that was founded by a communication major. Now, the director is Taytum Thompson, a Family Science major, and is sponsored by Kelli Dudley, an associate professor of education. This chapel meets on Thursdays at 11 a.m. in Adams Recital Hall

  • Taking Sides is a unique debate chapel run by Professor of Communication Brian Simmons. This chapel is an opportunity for students to debate controversial topics with each other. This chapel takes place in Judd Theater at 11 a.m. on Thursdays.

  • View 63 is a unique worship experience for OC students. This chapel is led by New Reign, OC’s a cappella worship team. There are six members of New Reign majoring in a field of study in the College of Humanities and Bible. View 63 takes place in Scott’s Chapel at 10 p.m. on Monday evenings.

  • Program chapels: Three Humanities and Bible programs have a weekly chapel on Thursdays at 11 a.m. Those include Bible (in Scott Chapel), Language and Literature (on the third floor of the library) and Music (in the Adams Recital Hall).

To learn more about these and upcoming chapel experiences, check the Ethos App from OC or visit the Ethos Office by the Brew, which is directed by Public Relations alumna Shaylin Kassen.
